Biography

Dominic Tindill, professionally known as Taxman, is a distinguished UK-based drum and bass producer and DJ, celebrated for his dynamic contributions to the genre. Born in 1983, he is the brother of Adam Tindill, better known as Original Sin, who was part of the renowned duo G Dub. Taxman’s journey into music was deeply influenced by his early exposure to drum and bass and jungle. He and his brother would often mix records together, fostering a passion that led him to immerse himself in music production. His dedication to crafting unique sounds has been a defining aspect of his career.

Very early in Taxman’s career his track Too Bad was released on Hype and Pascal’s record label, and went straight to number one in the BBC 1Xtra Drum n Bass chart, where it stayed for 4 weeks. Also known for his early tracks The Rebate and Evasion Remix, both released on G Dub’s Propaganda Records. He toured the world with a busy DJ schedule for years to follow, all while still writing and releasing music with Playaz and Ganja Records, which he signed to when Too Bad was released in 2005.

Over the past few years, Taxman has revisited his roots, infusing his productions with jungle-inspired elements that pay homage to the foundational sounds of drum and bass, releasing such tracks as It Comes at Night, The Fever, Inside The Ride, Can’t You See and in 2021, he released the single “Utopia,” a track that nods to the classic jungle era with its intricate breakbeats and atmospheric layers.

In 2023, embracing his newfound independence, Taxman launched his own label, TXM Recordings. The inaugural release, “Push It,” delivered in August 2023, exemplifies his commitment to blending contemporary drum and bass with jungle aesthetics, featuring energetic rhythms and deep basslines, followed by Super Dose and another heavily jungle inspired “Imposter”, and then followed up quickly by his heavy low end roller “Sekkle Dub”

Taxman’s DJ sets are renowned for their high-energy, expertly crafted journeys through the spectrum of drum and bass, with a particular emphasis on jump-up and jungle influences. A skilled selector, Taxman seamlessly blends classic anthems with fresh releases, keeping the crowd engaged and on their feet from start to finish. In recent years, Taxman has incorporated more jungle-inspired tracks into his performances, reflecting his evolving production style and love for the genre’s roots. With precise mixing and well-timed transitions, Taxman maintains an unrelenting pace, creating a vibrant and immersive atmosphere on the dance floor. Taxman’s charisma and ability to read the crowd add a personal touch to his performances. His sets are as much about interaction and energy exchange as they are about the music itself.

Taxman has graced the stages of major drum and bass events and festivals, such as Let It Roll, Rampage, and Hospitality in the Park, as well as club nights worldwide. Whether performing at a massive festival or an intimate venue, his sets consistently leave a lasting impression on drum and bass enthusiasts.
